I’m a theatre artist and filmmaker who aims to make work that is socially conscious, imaginative, and grounded in reflecting empathy in the human experience. I’ve received funding to develop new work through the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, TX, and have published about my work developing new plays in THEATRE TOPICS.
My recent and upcoming projects include ROE by Lisa Loomer at Stages in Houston (spring 2023), Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed and Nia Vardalos at TheatreSquared, the digital workshop of Ash Tree by Georgina Escobar at Hartford Stage, and posdata (or what I wish I said), a new theatrical event that uses postcards with handwritten messages collected from community members of El Paso, TX, as source material for the text.
I’ve been a finalist for the National Director’s Fellowship program through the O’Neill, and have received several national and regional directing recognitions including: “Best of 2019 in Chicago Theatre,” for my production of Love and Information at Trap Door Theatre in Chicago, “Outstanding Direction of a Play & Outstanding Production of a Play” for my direction of Lydia by Octavio Solis, and “Outstanding Artistic Direction” for my work on the ReUnión rEvolución Radio festival.
As an actor, I have received “Best Actress” recognition for my work at both the New York International Film Festival and the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City. I have appeared on HBO, ABC, CMT and Spike TV, along with starring in several independent films, national commercials, and numerous stage productions across the US and Europe.
My short film “The Arrangements” was nominated for “Best of the Borderland” at the Borderscene Film Festival, and my latest film “MONAH” premiered at the Austin Film Festival in 2022.
After seven years in the borderland of El Paso, TX, I recently relocated to the Midwest where I enjoy camping, thrifting, and exploring with my family. I serve as an Associate Professor of Acting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
